Now it starts.

The newspapers say it might be a hate crime that someone tried to burn down the Muslim church in Corvallis. How is it that when someone tries to burn down there church it is a hate crime but when one of them wants to blow up our Xmas tree lighting it isn"t a hate crime. I do not get it what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Or maybe our very own "free press"can not print the truth the way it is anymore. I am old fashioned and I don"t see it quite the way the press does. Maybe when you let radicals like the Xmas tree bomber come from your church you get"what goes around comes around". You still think muslims are peace loving people.

The potential for a terrorist attack has always existed even in Oregon. But to hear on the news that a 19 year old kid was willing to blow up as many people as possible really pisses me off. I do not for one minuet believe that there is any such thing as a peace loving Muslim. I believe that Franklin Gram was right when he said theres is a wicked religion which seeks to destroy any that oppose it. The "so called holey book " that they read from says that those who refuse to convert would be killed. What kind of whack job would be willing to take out little kids and moms who come to a peaceful lighting celebration. All these people understand is violence, they are among us as I write to you. The government does not need to worry about trying to find them before they enter our country we already let them in. Will America be involved in "The third Jihad"now we wait to see. Thanks for listening. Steve

The thanksgiving ballgame tradition.

While we were preparing the thanksgiving meal the morning of thanksgiving I looked in on the boys who range in age from 30 to 13years . They were not watching the ballgame but were all on their computers together but not talking to one another. It reminded me of when I was a boy and we all sat in front of the tv watching the ball game but not talking to each other. It was a time in the past called, yesterday it was now years apart but not so different from each other. The tv was media, the computer is media different but somehow not so different. I thought as I watched them that times change, media changes but boys don't change. It was good to spend the day with the family to watch the children interact with each other to know as I watched them that I am growing old. But I understand that they are always here with me and for me and that is what makes a family. That is what makes growing old worth it. Thanks for listening. Steve

the TSA are communist.

This is not America anymore when you can not even fly across the country to see your children without getting molested by the government agents. If anyone else were to touch you the way the government can they would be in jail right away. So now that Obama is in office why is it OK for those in the TSA who are supposed to work for us to act this way. It is almost like we have forgotten what it is to be free and what it is to be American. This is still the land of the Free and the home of the brave so let us all begin to act that way. The way to fight the government and win is to boycott the TSA. Let us become brothers and sisters together in the struggle let us boycott the TSA together, refuse to go through the full body scanners refuse to be patted down and groped like a common criminal. Protect your women from the government avoid putting them in a position where they will be felt out like a common whore. Make sure they are treated with respect like American women should be treated. Be a real man,be like your father was be like your Grandfather was stand proud. Do not let the Obama government win or take advantage of you or your family.let us stand together and remain free. Maybe the tea party has the right idea after all. Thanks for listening. Steve

I can't believe it is almost Christmas

It seems so unreal that it is only 32 days until Christmas. There must be something that happens to you as you begin to get older that makes time seem like it goes faster than it used to. I mean I know that an hour is still an hour and a year still takes a year to pass but it still seems like it has sped up some how. Anyway soon the holidays will be upon us and that always creates a certain amount of anticipation in both the young and old alike. It makes you look forward to all of the things that you enjoy about Thanksgiving or Christmas. Whether that might be the pumpkin pie or the Christmas lights we all enjoy something special about this time of the year. It is in fact "The most wonderful time of the year." Thanks for listening. It looks like winter now.

Just before it got dark yesterday the clouds all cleared away. It was then that I noticed you could see the full range of the mountains. They were all covered with a new coat of snow and shone a beautiful white color. The air outside held a hint of more snow to come and the wind had a chill to it as it blew about. As we all prepair for thanksgiving it seems like it helps put you in the mood when you can see the snow around you. It makes you think of the holidays and kind of sets the mood for things to come. Things are really tight around here with me not having a job but it helps me to know that the whole money thing is not what it is all about anyway. The best holidays that I can remember growing up are the ones where we were flat broke and had no money. We made do with what we had and made all or most of the decorations we used and the presents too. There is nothing like being home for the holidays and spending time with each other and the family. Take a moment this year to ponder what it is really all about and what is important to you. Thanks for listening. Steve

Everthing cost so much these days.

We figured out the square footage that we would need for the tile for the birth bathroom today. Then we went to the Lowe's store to buy it. Some of the tile that they have there can run over 14 dollars per tile. We chose some that was on sale for 49 cents per square foot. Normally it would have cost about 3dollars per tile. Next we found some white tile that went for about 2.50 per tile or per square foot. It was a little more at the first place we looked for it. What we bought was 147 dollars worth of tile it would have cost three times that at the first place we checked on the price. If you are careful and know what you want you can still find some bargains, but you must not be in a hurry. Must check on the price for the mortar and sealer tomorrow. Then we should be about ready to lay some tile. Thanks for listening. Steve

Progress

Well the carpenter is done now and I can do the Sheetrock work for the closet. I can do the Sheetrock work around the tub too. We will probably buy the tile this week so I can start on that too. We are waiting on a couple of pieces of plumbing that we don't have and then we can let the plumber finish his work and get our plumbing inspection. I will finish the closet this weekend and then the sink can be set in. It is so cool to watch it all come together piece by piece, Soon we will be done with the construction and then we finish up the massive amount of paperwork for the government. GOD is good and he will make a way for this to all work out in the end. Thanks for listening. Steve

Looking good and really starting to take shape.

Well the tub is all but in and the washer hook up is complete. The laundry tub hook up is done too, and by tomorrow the sink will be ready. Things are really starting to look good around here almost like a birth center. It will soon be time for the tile work to be done, so we must now go choose the tile to buy. So far we are doing OK on the money and it looks good to stay on budget for completion of the construction phase of the project. Next week I will try to figure out how to add some  pictures of the project for all of you to see. Thanks for listening. Steve

Even in the city.

Even in the city you can be surprised by the beauty of nature. When we went in to the office today a beautiful three point buck and his agile doe girlfriend came bounding across the parking lot. They must have come from across the street in the river park. They came so quickly that they startled me and I stood watching them with my mouth hanging open. Wow what a treat, it is amazing what nature can provide for us to see on the spur of the moment. If only I would have had a camera but Alas it was not to be. Many times in nature you see these marvels only to share them with no one else. That is why I choose to share this with you today otherwise no one would believe me. Thanks for listening. Steve

Why wouldn't everyone want to start a business?

As many of you know Debbie and I are starting a birth center as a business and a means to help women get the kind of birth they want. I used to see all of the empty buildings downtown and I wondered why don't people start a business in those. I know now that it does not matter what kind of business you would want to start the regulations and laws are tough. They are so tough in fact that many give up before they ever get close to their goal of starting a business. We are going to hang tough and finish this we are in it to far to turn back now. We started working on the payroll yesterday and the rules for that alone are staggering. One day at a time and soon will get through it. Well thanks for listening. Steve

The Veterans day parade.

To day we went to the veterans day parade. We didn't go to watch it we were in it. We used our van and some banners from the midwife business and entered an entry in the parade. I have never been to this parade I always wanted to go but it always worked out that I had to work. Since I do not have a job now I was able to go. I just wanted to be there in a watcher capacity. I am glad that I got to go and help my wife with her business though. Maybe next year I can go as a watcher and see what that would be like. But the whole day was great it was supposed to rain and the weather was beautifully it waited to rain until about a half hour after the parade was over. It was my wife's birthday she had a good day so did I life is good. I hope you all had a good day remember to be thank full for your freedom. Be thank full for those that went before us to protect us with their lives. Some gave all but all that served gave some. Thanks for listening Steve

Paint the kitchen.

As some of you know my wife and I are building a birth center from an old office building. She wanted the kitchen to be the color of butter. I went to the paint store and looked at what I thought might be butter colored paint. If you put the paint splotch on the counter it sorta looked like butter to me. So I had it mixed and stirred and took it to the building and painted the kitchen, The apprentice midwife said it looked like a school bus puked in the kitchen. My wife said it was just to much, kinda loud you might say. So I took some white I had and painted the kitchen white (to color up the puke yellow the bus left) wow. On Friday I will paint it again but this time butter colored(go figure) who would have known they had butter color. I told the girls they could buy the paint next time. I guess I will be doing us both a favor. Thanks for listening. Steve

Nothing is easy anymore.

Not long ago I decided to try to go back to school. I looked online to find the proper forms to fill out to apply for any or all available financial aid. After I was sure that I had done this properly I submitted the forms after a few days perhaps a week or two I went back online to see if I had got the money. I went to LBCC to get them to help me and they showed me all I needed to find the information I requested. I waited another 2 weeks and I received notice in the mail that I had been rejected for the funds that I needed. The reason they gave me was that 32years ago when I last went to school I had taken too many classes and did not have a defined major. So now I have to fill out more paper work and apply for an extension for my financial aid even though I paid for all of the older classes myself. I know I am going to have to jump through their hoops to get what I need but sometimes it makes me so angry. Especially when I have read that the feds pay full ride scholarships for some that are illegals. Then I know that I have lived here all my life and I have trouble getting the money to use for career change. Thanks for listening. Steve

How about your mate?

What is the first thing that you think about when you wake up in the morning?  If you think how could I make her or his day a little better or a little easier than you might be the perfect mate. What an awesome thing that would be. Living with someone that loved you so much most of the time they put you first before there own selves. Isn't that what love really is all about, putting your needs aside to care for someone else. I spoke with a young woman today that told me that is what she thinks about her husband each morning when she wakes. I thought I don't do that but I am going to try to from now on. I have been married for 32years and I do a pretty good job of loving and caring for my wife. I will be the first one to tell you I am not to old to learn something from someone else especially about relationships. Be thank full that you have someone to be with and try waking up thinking like my young friend what can I do for my mate today. Thanks for listening. Steve

The midwives husband.

I bet you have no idea what it is like to be a midwife. I am not a midwife but you can believe me when I tell you that I know what it is like to be one. Because I am the midwives husband, and if anyone should know I do. It is not the cardinal rule that all babies come at night but trust me most of them do. When you are a midwife and you get THE Call it is all most always in the middle of the night. When that phone rings it don't matter what you are doing your done doing it then. I have seen my wife wake up thousands of times but honey nothing wakes them up like that phone call by a women in labor. She can go from dead to the world to one hundred per cent awake in sixty seconds. If that is not enough to amaze you she can get completely dressed in a minute too. Most times when she is awake it takes forever (like when were getting ready for church) or getting ready for work at the office. She can be half sick or SO tired (like having just done two births in a row) but none of that matters when they need her. The important thing she always says is that the baby is going to come with or without her so she has got to hurry. Thanks for listening. Steve

Maybe the third time is a charm.

Now that all the votes are in they choose a guy for Governor that had already had two chances. Maybe they know something that we don't know. Maybe there just hoping that the third time will be a charm for him so that the good old Oregon economy won't continue on it's way down the toilet. What ever they think unless the guy has learned from watching our president were in big trouble. We need someone to cut the business killing taxes that we have in Oregon and put some people back to work. Maybe with the new guys in town the old guys will all have to play nice with each other in order to get anything done. I guess will just have to wait and see. Thanks for listening. Steve

The wait

Now that the voting is all done we wait. Most of the races or ballot measures were decided yesterday but the race for Governor is still to close to call. The elections did not go as well as I had hoped, but GOD know es best who to put into office to help bring about his will. While we wait please continue to pray that his will be done in the race for the Governor. That is still one of the truly great things left about America,we are still able to choose our own leaders. Pray for those in leadership during this time of change that they might do the right thing just because it is the right thing. That they might strive to serve those who have elected them selflessly. Each working for the cause of good for the benefit of all. Thanks for listening. Steve

Can we vote to change the change back .

Many of your fellow Americans wanted change before, well I did not I had a job back then and I should have remembered that it could always be worse. Few of you who voted for our current president could have believed that it could get worse. We can only hope and pray that the CHANGE we got can be undone. We all know now that the best we can hope for is to get in a few good men who have the guts and grit to stand against this political downfall. It won't be easy to stop our president but it can  done. If we get the right kind of people in office they can cut off funding for all of these worthless programs. We all know you can pass all the laws you want to but if the funding isn't there you have no action on your law. Spend a few minuets on your knees in prayer today and ask that the LORDS will be done in this election Thanks for listening.m Steve
