building material good or bad

After spending all day long working on the sheet rock at the office I wonder why anyone would ever want to use sheetrock. It is a poor building material and gains size over time so that when you try to make repairs It never comes out right because the size is different. When you cut it or hammer in nails it usually breaks some how and has to be repaired. The builders used to use stucco and they thing that sheetrock was an improvement I am not so sure they are right. At least with the stucco when you were done with it you did not have to be repair it again. In fact it was almost impossible to break a hole in it. Anyway the sheetrock will be done tomorrow, then it can be painted. All that remains now is a little tile work then we are done, wah hoo! Thanks for listening. Steve

It is all over now

Well another year has come and gone and Christmas passed by and it did not even seem like it was here. I don't know maybe it is just me but it did not even seem like it was Christmas this year. I can not tell if it was just that we were so busy with the birth center. Maybe we did not have time for Christmas this year. Oh I don't mean we did not have time, I meant that it was coming and we had to stop for it but we never really thought about it. It was just here and then it was just gone like it had never come to begin with. Now we have new years eve to deal with, some have parties some ignore it like it wasn't there at all. I think I might be in the ignore it category we will just have to wait to see how I feel about it at the time. Thanks for listening. Steve

what christmas used to be like

When I was a kid they did not have many of the things that the kids have today. There were no cell phones. no Ipods,no rap music and no computers. So most of the things that the kids want for Christmas this year did not even exist. We looked forward to our Christmas the same as they do today, but it was a much more simple time. We had toys that were made of wood and did not have battery's,or they were jump ropes and more old fashioned toys. We played with things that seemed to come from a time that had passed. But there is HOPE,I have seen many young people this year that are buying old fashioned toys. They are for the most part the same kind of toys that we used to play with all those years ago. Thank goodness for Christmas past. May it become the Christmas of the future. Thanks for listening. Steve

Now what Mr. President

The republicans have not taken control with all the new power they will get in January and the president can not get anything he wants passed. When January comes along it will get much worse for Obama. He thinks he is picked on now just wait. His approval rating is at just over 40percent the lowest it has been since he got elected. I see that his Dream bill that would have given thousands of illegals citizenship failed. He and his party have had more bad ideas than most presidents have in two terms. I fail to understand how he can have a complete lack of understanding as to how the government works. ALL OF THE THINGS HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE WERE ALL LIES. HE WAS NOT EVEN BORN A CITIZEN OF THIS COUNTRY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. Thanks for listening. Steve

It is not about the presants.

Christmas is not about the presents but I believe we have lost the true meaning of Christmas. It is about a father giving his son so that others may live even if we do not deserve it. It is about a baby who was born a king but does not claim his kingdom for thirty three years. It is about giving us a chance to start over when we never knew we needed it. It is about the story of a virgin that is with child  even though she has never known a man. She has a baby born the king of the Jews, the king of the world and yet the world refuses to claim him. It is about the kingdom that turned the world upside down. It is about the man that was GOD and yet he was still man. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. THING ABOUT IT WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU? Thanks for listening. Steve

When I was young.

When I was young I used to think I will never be like those old guys. They can not hear well and they carry a lot of funny stuff in there pockets. Well some how it happened to me,and whats even worse I did not realize it untill the other day. I was taking the stuff out of my pockets and changing in to clean overalls when it hit me I had become one of those dreaded old guys. I am going blind and can not see close up without my reading glasses. I have all that stuff in my overall pockets and my hair is falling out,I am getting old. Funny how quickly the time has passed and it seems to be going quicker all the time. I guess that is what they mean when they say time flies. Thanks for listening. Steve

Did BP do more damage than they thought?

There is a theory being considered in the scientific community right now that BP destroyed the gulf loop. If this is true the unusual weather that they are having in Europe might just become the norm. That would mean a significant change to there crop growing regions. We will have to wait a season or two to find out. Mother nature is capable of correcting most of the things that we do to her planet but it might take a while to correct. It might be that this has been known for a couple of months but it was not let out through the regular news media. Can you imagine the anger at being lied to when our own government knew about how bad the damage was all along. Thanks for listening. Steve

Where have all the real men gone?

Two years ago the country elected Obama as the president believing that he could bring about real change. Well the change has come and no one likes it even his own democrats have began to turn against him. What we need is a real man in charge one who would be a hero, one who never gives up when the chips are down. Where have all the real men gone to? We used to have hero's men that could be counted on to take charge when needed. Men that never asked for the spotlight to be on them, men who never ask for any thanks or any applause. They were just like anyone else until they were needed then they became leaders of men. They became hero's because that is what we needed them to be,they led by example. Some of these were men like Mr. Rogers or Captain Kangaroo these were some of the most decorated war hero's. Most people never knew of their bravery or of their unselfish sacrifice for their country. Yet they were hero's and when there job was done they again became regular ordinary men. Where are you real men? Heed our call we need you now as never before. Thanks for listening. Steve

A jack of all trades

Most of you know that Debbie and I are reworking an old office building to turn it into a birth center. To do all of the different kinds of construction you have to do you must be a jack of all trades. There is some carpenter work some plumbing some drywall work and some electrical and finally a little painting. To do at least half of these you need basic skills and to do the rest more refined trade work. That is why we hired half of it out to contractors they know there stuff and don't mess around. I have enjoyed it for the most part but I will be glad when we finally have it done. I never understood how hard it is to start even a simple business much less one that is this involved. I am looking forward to learning More about how to successfully operate a business and show our community that we care  about them. Thanks for listening. Steve Jack of all trades master of none.

What will happen as the economy gets worse.

For nearly 70 years the American dollar has been the reserve currency of the world. Most of the prices for goods are set with the dollar,or priced in dollars as a standard. When our own Government  decides to print more of our money to keep interest low on loans this devalues the dollar. At some point all of the buy outs or bail outs as some would call it reach a tipping point. Brothers we have reached that point and it is only a matter of time until the whole economy comes tumbling down around us. When I say this there are a number of things that can happen but none of them are going to be good and none of them easy to fix. I think that we have maybe as much as 12months until it catches up with us and we feel the full impact. This will make the great depression look like a picnic. Prepair now while you still have a chance, wast no time because you have none to spare. Thanks for listening. Steve

The bell ringer.

The other day I went to the post office in our town and I happen to notice that the bell ringer for the salvation army was not at the usual place. When I went in to the post office I ask about it and I was told that the ringers were no longer allowed to stand on Government property. The post office worker that I spoke to told me that someone had complained about it so now they had to stand just off of the property line. That's funny I said because no one is complaining about the millions of dollars of free food stamps that they are giving away everyday. I am always amazed that our government which is supposed to be of the people by the people can be so insensitive to the needs of the poor. That it is also amazing they can not make a simple decision based on practical application for real people. Thanks for listening. Steve

Wahoo its begining to look like Christmas or is it?

For many that live in this country Christmas is not looking to Rosy or even possible for that matter. There is an ever growing number of the jobless ranks who won't have Christmas this year. The money just is not there and people are getting smart enough at this point to know not to put it on a credit card. To make matters worse the feds are probably going to cut out any new extensions of unemployment. Not that I think unemployment is the answer it definitely is not but it keeps the bills paid until they can get a new job. So in light of all this be thankful that you have a job Even if it is not a good job. Then look around to see if there is something that you can do to help someone who is less fortunate than you. Thanks for listening. Steve
